What it is like to live on the lagoon: schools, commutes, marinas, and the places the locals go.
Mystic Islands is a waterfront community within Little Egg Harbor Township, Ocean County, built in the early 1960s by Lagoon Parks, Inc. on a cluster of seven small islands connected by a network of man-made lagoons. Homes sit on navigable water that leads out to Great Bay and the mouth of the Mullica River, which makes it one of the more affordable waterfront addresses on the Jersey Shore.
The area has deep roots: the site was once home to the Tuckerton Tower, a massive wireless transmission station built in 1912 whose concrete anchor monoliths still stand nearby. Today the neighborhood is a quiet mix of year-round homes and weekend getaways, known for boating, fishing, crabbing, and sunsets from the deck.
After Superstorm Sandy flooded parts of the community in 2012, many homes were rebuilt, raised, or replaced. 1072 Radio Rd is one of those rebuilds, and its systems, siding, and solar array all date from after the storm.

Beach Haven and the LBI beaches are a short drive east across the bay.
The Parkway puts the rest of the Jersey Shore within easy reach, north and south.
Homes in Mystic Islands are served by the Little Egg Harbor Township School District through sixth grade, then feed into the Pinelands Regional School District for junior high and high school.
School assignments are set by the district and can change; confirm the current feeder pattern with the district before relying on it.
Whether you keep a boat at the private dock at 1072 Radio Rd or want a marina slip with services, the marinas along the Tuckerton waterfront and the surrounding lagoons are minutes away.
